Gluten-Free Croutons

Don't throw your stale gluten-free bread away! Instead, make these herby gluten-free croutons and enjoy your new favorite crunchy topper for salads and soups! These croutons are also dairy-free and vegan, making them a safe option for nearly anyone at your dinner table.

Ingredients
  

  • 6 cups gluten-free bread diced into ¾-inch cubes, (about 6-8 slices, depending on the size of your bread)
  • ½ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375° F.
  • Slice gluten-free bread into ¾-inch cubes. Measure six cups-worth.
  • Add bread, Italian seasoning, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper
  • Drizzle in the olive oil and toss to combine until bread cubes are well-coated.
  • Spread bread cubes onto a parchment-lined baking sheet in a single layer and bake for 12-15 minutes, until croutons are golden brown, flipping once halfway.1
  • Remove from oven and let cool completely.
  • Store in an airtight container and enjoy your homemade croutons for up to two weeks.

Notes

  1. Cooking time will vary slightly, depending on your oven, the thickness of your bread cubes, and whether you use fresh or stale slices of gluten-free bread. On average, expect stale bread to bake for 12-15 minutes and bake for fresh bread for 15-20 minutes.
